During the summer months, the water evaporates and a layer of sparkling pure salt is left at the bottom of the lake.

Transport

Cova d’es Culleram is a large cave which was discovered in 1907. This was a temple to the goddess Tanoit and you can even see some of the treasures that were found in the caves at the Museu Atqueologic.

Young children love to visit Ponyland on Ibiza holidays. This is the home to a number of friendly ponies which can be ridden.

The hippy market is a popular attraction on the island. Every Wednesday, locals are transported back to the 60s as stalls crammed full of clothing, jewellery and interesting gifts take over the streets outside Es Canar.

To truly appreciate the beauty of the island, visitors should tackle the mountain range of Atalaia de San Jose.
