Holidays to Ibiza

Ibiza - not just a party island!

If you tell someone you’re off on your holidays to Ibiza, their immediate thought is that you are going on a drunken party trip.

But despite its reputation as the party capital of the world, holidays in Ibiza do not need to be like this; unless of course, you want them to be.

Ibiza is an island which lies in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Spain. It boasts some stunning scenery, ideal for hiking and cycling around and the clear, warm sea water is a favourite spot for divers. Despite its reputation, Ibiza really can offer you a quiet, peaceful holiday where you can enjoy the outdoors.

Of course, there’s no denying that in Ibiza you can also enjoy shot after shot of brightly coloured spirits, but that’s completely up to you. There are two very distinct sides to Ibiza and they manage to co-exist in perfect harmony; providing excellent holidays that are able to cater to a variety of tastes. Plenty of groups book cheap holidays to Ibiza to celebrate special occasions and with the legendary nightlife here it’s easy to see why. But people also book family holidays here too. And with plenty to explore, both young and old will always find a way to be entertained on the island.

Hints and tips for your Ibiza holiday

Attractions

The reason that many visitors choose Ibiza holidays is for the beautiful beaches here. The soft sands and clear blue waters are absolutely legendary and the towering cliffs and lush green forests offer the perfect backdrop for a lazy day on the beach.

To experience the real charm of the island, take a trip to its capital: Ibiza town otherwise known as Eivissa. In the town, you can experience the buzz of the port area, with its trendy bars or you can sit in one of the many restaurants at the marina and admire the yachts. You can even take the chance to explore the old town with its 16th century walls.

Las Salinas Salt Flats are a really famous landmark in Ibiza and well worth seeing on your holidays in Ibiza. These salt fields have been used for over 2000 years. Many visitors to the island come here for the marvellous photo opportunities on offer. During the summer months, the water evaporates and a layer of sparkling pure salt is left at the bottom of the lake.

Both amateur and professional divers love the diving opportunities which are available in Ibiza. Here, the warm, clear waters offer the perfect conditions for diving and even water sports such as water skiiing and parasailing too.

If you are in the mood to party, then of course, Ibiza is the place to be. The super clubs here are simply the best in the world. The most famous clubs are Amnesia, Pacha, Space and Privilege. Thousands of youngsters book cheap holidays to Ibiza every year just to experience the nightlife here. So get your party shoes on and get dancing to some of the best DJs around.

Eating

In Ibiza you will find typical Mediterranean food, based around fish, seafood and rice. You will also be served a lot of grilled meat accompanied by vegetables. Seafood fans should head straight for Ibiza Town, as here you will find some impressive seafood restaurants dotted around the harbour offering fresh and delicious fish. Of course, for those visitors who are missing their home comforts, you can find fast food restaurants and even restaurants serving English food dotted around the island. But whatever you do; don’t end your holidays in Ibiza without trying traditional Spanish paella.

Transport

Many people who go on Ibiza holidays will normally hire a car. And this is because this is the best way in which to fully explore the island. At just 45km long and 25km wide, it’s not difficult to see the entire island during your holidays to Ibiza. But another popular way of getting around and seeing some of the spectacular scenery on the island is by mountain biking. There are 20 cycle routes across the island and you can even take a guided mountain bike tour if you wish.

Things not to miss

  • With the beauty all around you in Ibiza, you have got watch the sunset at least once while you are on your holidays in Ibiza. And there’s no better place to do this than from the sunset strip which lies at the end of San Antonio Bay. Perhaps you can even sip on a few cocktails as you watch this spectacular sight.
  • Cova d’es Culleram is a large cave which was discovered in 1907. This was a temple to the goddess Tanoit and you can even see some of the treasures that were found in the caves at the Museu Atqueologic.
  • Young children love to visit Ponyland on Ibiza holidays. This is the home to a number of friendly ponies which can be ridden.
