Holidays to Bugibba

Bugibba - sun-kissed, casual and full of life!

The hedonistic delights of Bugibba, and sister neighbourhood, Qawra, are a beautiful fusion between nightlife and balmy days in a Mediterranean paradise.  In other words, you can rock on all night and relax in a genuinely carefree environment by day. The Maltese have worked out that life can be easy - and they're happy to share their secret and show you what Malta holidays are all about - especially if you take advantage of the prime locations and low prices on Holiday Supermarket (and the multiple flights to Malta options).

Bugibba is on the northeast coast of Malta in the St Paul's Bay area. The coastline is rocky, but the views and spectacular coastal roads that let you gaze out into an endless blue horizon are a fabulous introduction to what life in Malta is all about. The Maltese value their environment and the bad old days of too much development too quickly are rapidly drawing to a close. They value their history and the remnants of a violent Crusader past are carefully preserved.

The evening stroll along the Promenade is a great way to walk off the day's somnolence and the shops stay open late if you're in the mood for a browse. Dinner at one of the plentiful open-air restaurants, followed by ice cream further up the promenade is surely one of life's great pleasures. And then, if you're in the mood - any number of Bugibba's nightclubs have everything you need!

Hints and tips for your Bugibba holiday

Eating

Eating out in Bugibba -– cheap, expensive and everything in between

Flights to Malta are keenly priced and tourists have been discovering Malta holidays and Bugibba for many years now. As a result, the restaurant scene has matured to a state where you can truly find excellent quality food at good prices made by people enthusiastic about providing great service and a good experience.

Restaurants

The budget options - if you want a warm and friendly home away from home then the Heritage Pub on Gandoffli Street is your answer. If you're lucky you'll strike Rib night! It's young and casual, with quick and tasty food and good prices on the drinks.

Mid price options - La Sorpresa is on Tourist Street but don't be fooled by its location or its tiny shop front, sticker-clad windows. This is a great restaurant with traditional southern Italian/Maltese dishes like pork stuffed with dates and cheese, rabbit stew and beef olives. Grab a table outside and watch the world go by.

Splurge - one of things the Maltese specialise in is superb seafood and you'll find an excellent example of culinary expertise at Ta' Pawla on Triq It-Turisti Street in central Bugibba. If you're tiring of the hotel food and want to try traditional Maltese food, this is your place.

Things not to miss

Bugibba  - casual, carefree and relaxed!

The city front promenade in Bugibba contains all the shops you'll ever need and this is where you'll find a good concentration of restaurants. The beachfront restaurants tend to be a little gaudy and there are the usual multi-national fast food joints - but if you venture into the back streets you'll find the kind of restaurant that's worth tracking down. Run by families, with an emphasis on the fresh seafood that surrounds Malta and the flavours of Greece and southern Italy thrown in.

Promenade  - this really is a delight to walk along in the late afternoon. Gaze out along the coast and enjoy the rocky promontories and dappled brown headlands. The walk itself can be as long as you want - it goes for miles - but it's been lovingly landscaped with palm trees every few metres and flowering shrubs set into the kerbside to shield you from the traffic.

Mellieha Bay - this is the best beach close to Bugibba and is about 6 miles from Bugibba town centre. Its long golden sands will draw you in visually while the warm waters will keep you there!

Scuba Diving  - Bugibba is an excellent place to learn to scuba because of the calm waters, easy access to deep diving and the array of wrecks, caves and marine life to explore
