Costa del Sol, spanish for ‘the Sunshine Coast’, more than lives up to its name. The southern Spanish region boasts many fantastic beaches along more than 150km of glorious coastline. And the mild climate makes it an ideal destination at almost any time of year. The region is well-known for superb golf courses such as Valderrama, and there are any number of water sports and diving opportunities to choose from. If it’s nightlife you’re after, you won’t be disappointed with the after-dark scene in up-market resorts like Benalmadena and Marbella, where there’s lively partying until dawn. Or, if you’re more into culture and history, there are plenty of religious sites and museums to take in, or visit Picasso’s birthplace.
There are certain holiday destinations that are simply perfect for those much needed beach holidays when the only focus is on how many hours of sun you can get and where the next delicious cocktail is coming from. And one of those destinations is the Costa del Sol. Climate

The weather in the Costa del Sol really can’t be beaten and it is for this reason that more than two million people a year enjoy their holidays in Costa del Sol. There is over 300 days of sunshine a year in the holiday destination. In the winter, temperatures hover around 16 degrees and in the summer time, they can reach around 30 degrees with very little rain. No wonder it’s called the Sunshine Coast.

Eating Out

Along many parts of the Costa del Sol, the local restaurants and cafes have adapted their menus to become suitable for tourists. It’s very easy to find a full English breakfast or even a Sunday roast along the coast. But, of course, if you are hoping to sample some of the local cuisine while on your holidays then this is possible too. Along the coast, fish is a favourite with small friend fish and shellfish making a regular appearance. For the true Spanish experience, visit a traditional tapas bar and try a little bit of everything.

Sightseeing

Torremolinos has forever been known as the party destination. This lively resort has a fantastic nightlife and is popular with families as well as groups of young people looking to party on their holidays. This destination is all about having fun; so enjoy water sports and shopping during the day and get ready to party at night.

In contrast, the marina at Puerto Banus offers a peaceful place to relax, with a traditional atmosphere. The marina offers some beautiful views with the quaint fishing boats bobbing up and down in between some spectacular looking yachts. And of course, the shopping here is impressive with many rich and famous folk taking full advantages.

The views seen in Nerja are unbeatable. The Balcon De Europa is a promenade which was built along the edge of a cliff and it boats some amazing panoramic views across the Mediterranean Sea. While in Nerja, many visitors also enjoy a trip into the caves where wall paintings can be seen that date back 20, 000 years.

1.For any golf enthusiast, the Costa del Sol is the ideal holiday destination. With around 60 golf courses to its name, the holiday hotspot really is the best place to tee off.

2. For a truly magical experience on your Costa del Sol holidays you can take a whale watching trip off the coast of the Costa del Sol. On these trips tourists have, in the past, spotted fin whales, killer whales and sperm whales and of course a good few dolphins too.

3. If you’re going for a family holiday then you may wish to set a day aside for Tivoli World. This amusement park is the largest in the Costa del Sol and is situated in Arroyo de le Miel. There are plenty of shows and rides here to keep the whole family entertained.

4. While you are in the area of Arroyo de le Miel, you should take the chance to enjoy a ride on a cable car. The Benalmadena cable car runs all the way to the top of Monte Calamorro and from here, there is a spectacular view of the Costa del Sol. On a really clear day, you may even be able to see the North African coast.

5. If you want to get a little closer to our friends from the sea on your Costa del Sol holidays then the Selwo Marina is a great place to start. Here you can see dolphins and sea lions as well as penguins and the marine life of South America. It’s a popular spot for all the family.
