Climate
Gozo, like much of Malta, has a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. The summers are dry with the occasional cold winds in spring. January averages around 20C during the day while summer sees average temps of about 28 - 34C. Perfect beach weather all year round!
Eating Out
Cheap, expensive and everything in between
The island is relatively small so you can easily bar hop from village to village and into Victoria on your nights out to experience the delightful cross-fertilisation of Greek and Italian flavours that makes up the culinary culture of Malta.
The budget options - some of the smallest cafes also do a fine line in fresh seafood hot off the barbecue. Places like D Bar in Qala do ribs and salad (these are best ribs on the island!). Try Brookies for a great ambience and nice flavours.
Mid price options -Tatitas in San Lawrence is a place well-favoured by the locals - which tells you something and the Band Club in Kercem does excellent, unpretentious food at a decent price
Splurge -you're in such a grand location that the view becomes imperative - and some of the best, as well as an exquisite menu and great wine list can be found at Ic-Cima in Xlendi Bay. Picture postcard perfect.
Sightseeing
Gozo - a sun-kissed scenic paradise!
The main town of Victoria on Gozo is home to around 6, 000 people so you tell immediately how relatively unspoiled the whole island of Gozo is. Far from the madding crowds on Malta itself, Gozo is much more laid back, yet it still has the stunning history and magnificent rock formations and turquoise waters Malta is famed for. Victoria is also home to the Citadel, a sort of old city. You can climb the walls at night and enjoy the view or just explore the alleys and avenues, searching out that fab new piece of clothing or that welcoming bar.
Victoria - this delightful town has the famed Citadel as well as three lovely town squares. Look out for the Jubilee cafe and take a selection of local jams and cheeses back to your room for afternoon snacks.
Hondoq Bay- this is the best beach on Gozo and the sandy slice of heaven can get a little crowded in peak season. It's small so get there early.
Xlendi Beach - is a great place to swim out from shore and just bask in the warm waters. The cliff face and the caves make for a very scenic background and the walks around the rocky bays and headlands will test your mountain goat skills.
Dwejra Bay - the famed window of Dwejra won't last for too much longer so get in and see this remarkable rock formation before the wind, sun and sea do their stuff. There's also a diving hole to test the adventurous and you can do boat trips through the caves and around to see the window.
