Welcome to France

France

Wine, food and Paris...

You could be forgiven for thinking that's all there is to France but of course it is so much more.

France is fashion; it's style, and history. It's windswept beaches in the north and multi-millionaire playgrounds in the south. It's world-famous for being home to Provence. And of course, it's home to some of the world's greatest art scattered in museums and galleries across the country.

France the most visited country in the world with good reason. The monuments and national treasures are iconic - Mona Lisa in the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elyssee in Paris. Criss cross the country and you'll find sweeping valley in the Loire, idyllic villages in Provence and majestic mountains in the Alps.

To the west of Paris lies the Atlantic coast and the regions of Normandy and Brittany revelling as they do in their Celtic origins and ancient hard-fought history (think Asterix!). Lovers of more rustic, whether beaten scenery will enjoy the stoic towns and slower pace of life enjoyed in the mainly agricultural region.

Central France is wine country; famous for the Loire Valley and the beautiful towns like Orleans (home to you know who!) and Tours. Central France is where you'll find Chartres and its famous Cathedral.

If it's snow you're after, Chamonix and Albertville are not only a champagne-powder paradise, but also exceptionally pretty towns. If you've time, exploring the Alps in summer is an exceptionally rewarding thing to do.

The South is where you'll find the Riviera, fine food, slow days, hot nights and fine wine. Provence is down here and equally beautifully though less travelled is the Dordogne region with a welter of little must-see villages literally dripping with that Gaelic atmosphere redolent of boulangeries, and rustic cheeses. If you visit the Dordogne and want to leave there is something seriously wrong with you!

Paris - what isn't there to say about Paris? The famous city of light has all the museums; galleries and shopping you could shake a stick. There's a reason why Paris is the most popular tourist destination on the planet - food, Montmartre, the Louvre, Musee de Orangies, Monet, Galleries Lafayette, the Latin Quarter and more vie for your attention on a daily basis.

France will leave you gasping for superlatives. Enjoy!
