Healthier Holidays For Brits
According to the Assocation of Independent Tour Operators, British people are becoming
“much more aware of health issues”
and as such the range of sporting holidays has increased both here in the UK and abroad. British holidaymakers are becoming increasingly aware that their sedentary lifestyles and fast-food diets are huge contributory factors in increased risk of health problems, such as strokes and heart attacks.
Chairman of the association, Derek Moore, said:
“We don’t necessarily wish to sit on a beach sunning ourselves for 14 days in the 21st century. We have specialists offering holidays including golf and tennis, canoeing, cycling, walking, sailing and much, much more.”
Indeed these sporting activities and entertainment are no longer the expensive option either. Cheap holiday options include opting for all-inclusive holidays so that sports and other activities are included in the price of the holiday, as well as food and drink.
Recent statistics from the Office of National Statistics shows that approximately 21 percent of British adults participate in sporting events or active recreation on a regular basis.
According to Safesport.co.uk, when holidaymakers purchase their travel insurance they should seriously think about including a sports option or buying a special sports travel insurance policy if they think they might participate in sports whilst abroad.
