Transfer passengers can tour in Bangkok

Starting this month, transfer passengers who are on a stopover of just twelve hours or less at the airport of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi will be offered sample tours of the Thai capital.

The tours are being offered from June this year to encourage the interest of travellers in Bangkok and hopefully boost their interest in returning in the future for holidays and to stay a little longer.

The short excursions will be available to thousands of passengers every day and are to include a tour of the Royal Palace complex in Bangkok and boat rides along the Thonburi canals.

Even better, the transfer passengers taking up the offer of a tour will not need to pay the 700 baht (£13) airport tax when they later check in for their onwards flight out of Bangkok airport.

Weerasak Kowsurat, chairman of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said:

“The campaign will give transfer passengers a chance to enjoy a brief tour of the Thai capital and nearby provinces. By giving them a quick first impression, we hope to encourage them to come back for a longer stay in future.”

Air carriers such as Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Thai Airways provide flights to Bangkok, ideal for those seeking direct holidays to the Thailand capital.
