Sri Lanka for Sustainable Tourism
According to reports from Sri Lanka Tourism, the island of Sri Lanka is to be at the centre of sustainable tourism in forthcoming years primarily because of its environmental initiatives and its biological diversity.
On the 12th November, the Sri Lanka tourism authority will be taking part in World Responsible Tourism Day. This day is being held as a part of the World Travel Market next week at London’s ExCel centre.
Sri Lanka Tourism is attempting to become completely carbon neutral by the year 2018. Indeed, it launched the ‘earth lung’ initiative in October last year.
This project has reputedly been recognised officially by the UN World Tourism Organisation and also the Pacific Asia Travel Association because they believe it has the potential to be launched all over the globe in different tourist destinations.
The island of Sri Lanka is renowned for its range of natural attributes, which constitutes great wildlife, beaches and many places to participate in watersports activities.
Sri Lanka is home to around 250 species of birds, elephants, leopards and more, many of which can be found in its 100 protected areas and 13 national parks.
