There is no doubt that France is one of the best places for a holiday. This beautiful country offers those on holiday with a number of places to visit and things to do which make short breaks just perfect. The French Riviera, in particular, is wonderful thanks to the things visitors are offered there. Also known as the Cote d’Azur, this is a Mediterranean coastline located on the country’s south eastern corner. If visiting the French Riviera, here are a few things to do if you want to make your trip more enjoyable.

La Vieille Ville de Nice
This is one of the best places to visit on breaks to the French Riviera. There are quite a few places to see in the town like Cathedrale Ste. Reparate, old churches like Chapelle de l’Annonciation and Eglise St. Jacques and Palais Lascaris, a free museum. Besides these, there are numerous shops and restaurants lining the narrow streets.

St Honorat Island
You can get to this island via boat from Cannes. Located here is a monastery which is guarded by an impressive fortress built in the 11th century. There are several small chapels on this wooded island and a wonderful gift shop as well.

Cabris
This sparsely populated village is situated 550km above sea level and has only recently become a tourist spot. The view from the top of the village is spectacular and stretches right up to Italy. You can also find arched passages, stone steps in alcoves, medieval houses and beautiful surrounding here.

There are a many other places you can visit on breaks to the French Riviera which will make your holiday simply wonderful.

Côte d’Azur in the French Riviera is the hotspot for the biggest Hollywood stars in film along with TV director’s writers and producers who parade the red carpet each year amidst classical music concerts and the world’s greatest acrobats.

France’s Côte d’Azur is the glamour capital of the French Riviera host to the most highly publicised and fashionable French event of the year. Some of the events which enthral the masses of holiday makers each year are the Carnaval De Nice and International Circus Festival in Monaco.

If glamour is what you are looking for then a city break to the Cannes Film Festival this year is perfect for you. The festival takes place in May and the town of Cannes is filled with Hollywood A-listers such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Johnny Depp, who are often amongst the faces who arrive each year in Côte d’Azur attending celebrity parties and film premieres.

The hub of the action at the festival is the Palais des Festivals, a huge building where there is a judging panel for the main event. The photographs that come out of the festival each year are of film stars and famous directors walking towards the Festival Palace up the famous red carpet.

The Palme D’Or award is the main award of the festival and is given to be the best film of the festival, as decided by a celebrity judging panel; previous winners include Apocalypse Now (1979) and Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004).
