Egypt carries a long and interesting history spanning many centuries. It is known as the land of mystery, with the Pyramids of Egypt as the main attractions to visit. The pharaohs are brought to life by such magnificently huge and ancient pyramids. Whether it is the lazy beaches, the adventurous deserts or the coral waters, Egypt is a place to visit and spend your holidays. There are lot of exciting holiday deals you can get while going to such a historic place.
Sharm el Sheikh, a resort which originated twenty-five years ago, is the queen of Red Sea Riviera. Recent attractions include resorts like Taba Heights in the Sinai Peninsula, Hurghada, El Gouna, Safaga and Makadi Bay in the Western Red Sea, El Alamein and Porto Marina in the Mediterranean.
Khan el Khalili bazaar district in Cairo, the rooftop bars and the lively cafes in the Red Sea resorts are some of the spots to enjoy the later hours of the night. Sip on some mint tea and Kahwa coffee with local food specialities like kebabs and humus.
To feel some adrenaline, go for wadi-bashing in four by four vehicles or camel rides along the desert. Witness beautiful corals and tropical fish in the Red Sea. Wind surfing has also become a favourite sport on the Red Sea.
You can shop shoes and cotton clothes in the markets of Alexandria. Go for a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan and experience the heart of the country. Do not miss on major attractions like Cairo’s Pyramids, Egyptian Museum and Muslim Quarter, the Valley of Kings and temples of Karnak and Luxor and St Catherine’s Monastery and Mount Sinai.
Every time you hear the word Egypt, it conjures up images of pyramids, sand and camels. The next time you are stuck about the choice of location for your holidays, there is one place that is worth a visit and that is Sharm El Sheikh.
Sharm El Sheikh has a lot on offer so you can spend your holidays being productive. This ranges from outdoor activities to water sports, fishing and playing golf on one of their numerous courses. All of which can be enjoyed whilst admiring the fascinating scenery and the temperate climate. Sharm’s golden beaches are also immensely popular with sun-worshippers. The Red Sea offers more than enough opportunity for activities such as scuba-diving and snorkeling to name but a few.
However you need not spend a significant part of your holidays playing sports. Na’ama Bay is a very appealing area to meet the locals and has an adequate number of shops, bars and restaurants available to keep you entertained. The exhilarating nightlife too is worth a mention for those who like to enjoy and sample a bit of real Egyptian culture.
Visiting the Sharm Old Market will give pleasure to those tourists who have a fine eye for a good deal. The Sharm Old Market provides an occasion for those who wish to use their haggling skills to good effect, irrespective of whether you are looking to buy time-honoured clothing or hand crafted merchandise and trinkets in addition to the variety of herbs and spices on display.
In the Red Sea resort of El Gouna in Egypt, it has recently been announced that there is to be a new luxury resort specialising in sports called Ancient Sands.
This new sports resort is being built by construction company ODH (Orascom Development Holding) and the private complex will be within easy reach of both the marina and the Red Sea, an area that holiday makers worldwide love for its world class diving.
The complex is to be equipped with all sorts of facilities such as swimming pools and restaurants, apartments and a spa treatment centre as well as a championship golf course.
The first phase is due to open to welcome guests starting from December 2011.
Mayar Abdel Aziz, vice-president of destination marketing for ODH, said:
“The Ancient Sands Resort is a welcome addition to El Gouna. It will be built to uncompromising standards to provide a unique experience for all. The range of facilities it will provide will add to the large number of exciting services El Gouna already offers its guests.”
The resort of El Gouna is one of the most popular areas in the Red Sea area of Egypt, along with the world famous Sharm El Sheikh. Both resorts are renowned for sporting holidays, in particular watersports, such as waterskiing, windsurfing and of course diving, as well as others.
EasyJet has recently declared that this winter it will be extending the number of flights and destinations within Europe by launching 15 new routes.
These new services will include flights to several popular holiday destinations and eight of these new connections will be operating from airports in the UK.
Those seeking cheap holidays in the sun will be pleased to hear that Liverpool Airport is to host some new flights to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote and Luton Airport will be operating flights to Paphos and Sharm el Sheikh.
The network from Gatwick Airport will also be extended including new flights to Hamburg and Porto. Another route to Fuerteventura will be opened from Stansted Airport.
Andy Harrison, chief executive of the airline, said:
“We are delighted to be announcing even more new routes from the UK and across Europe. Times are tough for consumers, so we are proud to offer great year-round holiday opportunities in fantastic places such as Paphos, Fuerteventura and Sharm El Sheikh for incredibly low prices.”
Other services to be offered by EasyJet in the summer season include flights from Manchester Airport to Corfu, Athens and Corsica.
Earlier this month, British Airways started to operate flights with its new long haul air plane to be introduced to the BA fleet in almost eight years.
The new Boeing 777-200ER aircraft was delivered to the airline earlier this year and has been prepared for flight duty at the Cardiff Airport’s British Airways Maintenance Cardiff (BAMC) centre.
The new plane has had new in-flight entertainment systems installed along with BA’s World Traveller and Club World products. This month the Boeing 777-200ER will start running flights to Washington.
Garry Copeland, the airline’s director of engineering, said: ‘Our engineers in Cardiff have done a fantastic job in preparing the new aircraft for service. These were some of the most complex modifications ever carried out at BAMC but once again they have risen to the challenge. Their work will help us to continue to deliver the high levels of customer service our customers expect.’
British Airways is set to receive another three Boeing 777-200 aircraft later this year.
Thanks to this new expansion of the fleet, BA will be able to extend its flights to Las Vegas, Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt and Jamaica amongst other great destinations for holidays.
The Maldives and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt are just two of the holiday destinations that will be receiving new flights from British Airways this winter as the airway carrier extends its winter flight schedule.
Sharm el Sheikh and the Maldives extra flights will commence on the 25th October and will fly three weekly services from London’s Gatwick airport.
It is the first service British Airways has run to the Maldives and it will be flying to Male, whilst the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh spells a return for the airline.
According to the British Airways head of UK & Ireland Sales, Richard Tams, these extra services will be ‘a real winner with customers’ who can benefit from direct holidays to these destinations. He stated:
“They are both perfect holiday destinations, known for their great beaches and fantastic diving. We’re particularly pleased to be serving a completely new destination, the Maldives, and returning to Sharm El Sheikh. We expect both routes to perform well.”
Other destinations to receive new flights from British Airways include the Dominic Republic, Jamaica and Las Vegas, also due to start in October.
Sharm el-Sheikh is the perfect holiday destination for the traditional sun, sea and sand beach resort enjoyed by many the world over. In fact the destination is one of the most developed for tourists and also the most accessible place in the Sinai Peninsula.
The resort provides its holidaymakers with tiny, intimate hotels that provide personal and fantastic service amongst modern designs, while some of the larger hotels in the area are owned by international hotel chains.
There is much to do at the many golf courses, casinos, discos and health and fitness facilities are available at many large hotel resorts.
The area of Sharm-el Sheikh lends itself to snorkelling and diving along with a huge range of water sports including windsurfing and plenty of camel and horse riding trails, antiquities attractions and desert safaris.
Na’ama Beach is the main centre of tourist activities in the area and attracts thousands of holidaymakers every year due to many of its hotels having their own private beach paradises with beach bars and comfortable seating areas.
Shark’s Bay is quickly becoming a popular resort with tourists and is situated close to Na’ama Beach. It offers a number of diving opportunities to visitors. Sharm el-Moiya harbour has its own yacht club and accommodation for mooring boats.
Out of all these attractions Sharm-el Sheikh is probably best known for its 10 miles of long stretching golden beaches which provide amazing diving sites all the way along the huge stretch that runs from Sharm el-Sheikh to Ras Nusrani.
A recent survey has shown that holidaymakers from the UK are keen to take part in an increasing number of outdoor activities when they are abroad.
The research was conducted by the banking group Cater Allen and it showed that only approximately 20 per cent of Brits now plan to ‘do nothing’ when they spend time abroad on holiday.
In fact, another 12 per cent of respondents were keen to take part in scuba diving in far-away places such as the popular water sports destination in Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh.
26 per cent of respondents also expressed a wish to go trekking and 5 per cent said they would be interested in trying either sand boarding or snowboarding.
Richard Dunn, the bank’s managing director, said: “This research shows that Britons are moving away from the traditional European family holidays and becoming more adventurous in their holiday choices.”
For fans of outdoor activities in the UK, VisitBritain said that attractions like Go Ape or water sports activities in Cornwall are particularly popular.
Sharm el Sheikh is one of the most developed, tourist places in Egypt. Situated on the Sinai peninsula, it is a hive of activity from dawn til dusk. Naturally, you could choose Sharm el Sheikh for a beach holiday but it’s so much more than that. Plus, with all the tourist interest in the area, you can now visit this popular area of Egypt at a bargain price.
Hotels in Egypt are usually of a high standard and there are many to choose from, all with multiple swimming pools and modern amenities. You can find a hotel to suit your every need, whether you’re searching for a small, intimate type or a large, modern complex. The area is still relatively untouched and you’re surrounded by bedouins, colourful tents, mountain ranges, sand and sea.
Being right on the coast of Egypt adjacent to the Red Sea, Sharm el Sheikh first found popularity amongst the world’s divers and is a haven for watersports lovers. You can learn to dive here, go snorkelling, windsurfing and all manner of water activities.
For those who have only heard of Sharm el Sheikh through the diving community and think there’s nothing else, think again. There are nightclubs, casinos, huge golf resorts, health spas, horse riding, camel riding (who could go to Egypt and not ride a camel?) and even desert safaris. You could even take a romantic hot air balloon ride over the pyramids. Nobody could ever be bored in Egypt. It’s an ideal cheap holiday for all the family, but will feel like luxury.
