Hogmanay Holidays in Edinburgh

Filed under: Edinburgh — Adam @ 4:52 pm

This year’s Edinburgh Hogmanay is set to be more popular than every before according to the Edinburgh Hogmanay party’s creative director and those who want to see in the New Year at the event are being urged to buy tickets as soon as possible.

The ticket launch was on Friday and tickets are being sold for just £10 per person or a mere fiver for those who benefit from a special offer.

The Hogmanay street party was voted one of the top 100 things to do before you die and will start at 9pm along Princes Street and last through to 1am.  The event is set against a gorgeous backdrop of the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle.

Around 100,000 party-goers are expected to attend this year’s event, and they will be able to enjoy candle-lit concerts, traditional ceilidh Scottish dances and many other great attractions.

Pete Irvine, the event’s creative director, said: ‘With top name acts and fireworks to make sure we bring in 2009 with a bang, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay offers something for everyone as musicians and DJs, across a number of stages, bring the streets of Edinburgh alive with music and an electric atmosphere.’

Steve Cardownie of Edinburgh City Council added: ‘£10 for a night of music, fireworks and electric atmosphere is a fantastic deal by anyone’s standards, so the promotional offer of £5 per pass is definitely one not to be missed.’
