Filed under: Cape Town, Dominican Republic, Los Angeles, Maldives, New York, Turkey — Emma on November 25, 2009 @ 6:08 pm

British Airways has eased the confusion of where to go for many holiday goers. Tourists can now shortlist from a selection of ten popular tourist destinations to visit for their next holiday.

The renowned airlines have suggested a list of popular holiday locations to British tourists. According to British Airways, these particular destinations are expected to remain popular among the tourists for some time.

Cape Town, South Africa occupies the coveted position in the list. The upcoming FIFA World Cup in the year 2010 has been cited as the major reason for the popularity of Cape Town. The World Cup is scheduled in the month of June and July. Cape Town is one of the South African cities to play host to the FIFA world cup.

On the other side of the scale, British Airways has recommended cities like New York, Las Vegas and Vancouver as ‘must visit’ destinations for people considering a trip to North America.

British Airways also operates flights to the Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
The airline has predicted that Punta Cana will be one of the emerging holiday destinations to watch in the year 2010.

Tourists considering a holiday to Europe can plan a trip to Dubrovnik, Stockholm or Istanbul, Turkey. The tourists wanting to travel farther can also plan a trip to Delhi or the Maldives.

New flights from British Airways

Filed under: Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jamaica, Las Vegas, Maldives, Sharm El Sheikh — Adam on June 2, 2009 @ 3:29 pm

The Maldives and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt are just two of the holiday destinations that will be receiving new flights from British Airways this winter as the airway carrier extends its winter flight schedule.

Sharm el Sheikh and the Maldives extra flights will commence on the 25th October and will fly three weekly services from London’s Gatwick airport.

It is the first service British Airways has run to the Maldives and it will be flying to Male, whilst the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh spells a return for the airline.

According to the British Airways head of UK & Ireland Sales, Richard Tams, these extra services will be ‘a real winner with customers’ who can benefit from direct holidays to these destinations. He stated:

“They are both perfect holiday destinations, known for their great beaches and fantastic diving. We’re particularly pleased to be serving a completely new destination, the Maldives, and returning to Sharm El Sheikh. We expect both routes to perform well.”

Other destinations to receive new flights from British Airways include the Dominic Republic, Jamaica and Las Vegas, also due to start in October.

The Caribbean Jewel Crown!

Filed under: Dominican Republic — Adam on March 16, 2008 @ 2:02 pm

The Dominican Republic, a beautiful Caribbean Island, was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The sun, sea and sand make it the perfect winter destination for shivering Europeans and North Americans. Spanish, French, Haitian, and African influences have enriched the Republic to make it a culturally rich experience.

Cuisine
Antillean and Creole fare influence the Dominican cuisine. It consists mainly of rice, fish and other seafood, meats and vegetables. Coconut gives it a unique flavour. Deserts like arroz con leche, a rice pudding and aqua de coco, a mix of sugarcane juice and fruits, are very popular and very sweet.

Beaches
The Dominican Republic has some of the best beaches in the world. The sand is white and washed by warm, blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. The visitor has a choice of either staying in resorts with many water-based activities or hotels with quiet, peaceful beaches.

Golf
Beautifully designed 19-course golf courses dot the ocean fronts. The courses boast of hosting both Bill Clinton and George Bush. The golf clubs rent clubs at affordable rates and hire professionals to give lessons.

Gaming and Casinos
If the beaches and golfing are not for you, spend some hours at the casinos. The major resorts run a casino on their premises and are open all night. Some casinos operate 24 hours a day.

The Dominican Republic rum, cigars and coffee are popular all over the world.
