New flights to Prague from bmibaby

Bmibaby has announced that from the 2009 winter season it will offer new flights to the city of Prague from East Midlands Airport.

The Czech capital city of Prague has proved highly popular for city breaks from the UK in recent years, due to low prices and its art and culture.

Bmibaby will be offering flights three times a week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays commencing on the 4th December and will run until 26th March 2010.

Julian Carr, Commercial Director at bmibaby, said that these new flights would offer travellers from the UK more opportunities to visit the world famous Christmas markets in Prague on city breaks.

He added:

“In addition to the three flights [a] week, we will be adding extra services for the two-week period over Christmas and new year to allow people from the East Midlands to enjoy the traditional Christmas festivities in Prague. For those looking to do something different for New Year’s Eve, the Czech capital has a host of events taking place that are sure to be very popular.”

This now brings the total of destinations being run by Bmibaby from East Midlands Airport to a grand total of 16 destinations. Other places ideal for city breaks from East Midlands Airport with bmibaby include Nice, Paris and Malaga.

Madonna getting ready for big European tour

Those who are fans of the queen of pop, Madonna will be able to see her live in concert in Europe if they decide to combine a city break holiday with a visit to one of Madonna’s famous live shows during the summer this year.

Madonna is set to start her European tour with her first gig playing at London’s O2 Arena on 4th and 5th July, which will be followed by a live performance in the North West of England at Manchester’s MEN Arena on 7th July.

Madonna is then due to head over the English Channel to complete the rest of her European tour dates which will see her play live on the 9th July in Paris. Further concerts are scheduled; 14th July in Milan, 21st July in Barcelona and the 23rd July in Madrid with various other city break hot spots.

Madonna’s whole tour is to cover eastern European cities such as Prague, Tallinn, Warsaw, Budapest and finishes at the end of August.

Madonna is popular with fans all over the world as she is one of the most successful female recording artists in history with over 200 million albums sold worldwide.

The cheapest holiday destinations in 2009

Holiday makers who are looking for the most value for money from their summer holiday this year would be best advised to head for destinations such as: Bulgaria, Thailand, Egypt and South Africa, says a new annual report on Holiday Costs which was just released by the Post Office.

One of the most affordable destinations was found to be the eastern European destination of Bulgaria and other budget destinations include Thailand and Egypt. The top three cheapest holiday destinations last year were Egypt, Thailand and South Africa so Bulgaria has shot to the top of the charts.

The other two cheap countries to visit this year are Turkey and Kenya whilst Malaysia, Croatia and Malta were in the top ten of budget places to visit.

The head of travel services at the Post Office is Sarah Munro and she recently commented upon the findings of their survey saying:

“The euro zone has taken a bashing this year but our survey suggests that tourist outlets in many resorts are taking dramatic steps to encourage tourists. Despite the weak pound, this means that UK tourists who shop carefully could find that they get more than expected for their money.”

Earlier research from The Post Office this year revealed that some of the cheapest European city breaks in 2009 include Prague, Warsaw and Budapest.

Czech Airlines increase flights from Prague

European holidaymakers who are planning to visit Russia this year are to be offered a much larger range of flights from Prague as Czech Airlines increase the number of flight services to the country.

The airline recently announced that it was planning to start flights from Prague to Novosibirsk (the 3rd largest Russian Federation city) - flights started on 28th April.

Czech Airlines are also set to provide two regular weekly flight connections to the Russian city via their Airbus A319 planes which provide a capacity for 135 passengers.

Vice Presidentfor Czech Airlines, Petr Pistelak, provides the marketing and product development for the brand worldwide and claims that his airline is the only carrier that is based at a hub in Prague’s central European location which will offer holidaymakers the chance to fly direct to Novosibirsk.

The Czech airline recently described Russia as the ‘most significant market’ which is a fact further highlighted through the large increase in flights just launched to holiday destinations such as Yekaterinburg and Moscow in more recent years.

Earlier this year, the airline also decided to boost the flight services to holidaymakers wanting to visit Canada from Prague and there are now four weekly flights from Prague to Toronto which launched at the beginning of May, which offers a total of 156 connections between Prague and Toronto throughout the entire holiday season.
