International Golden Boleros Festival
The festival is held annually in Havana in June, Cuba and attracts holidaymakers from every corner of the globe who are interested in Latin American music. The festival is known as ‘bolero’ which is also a commonly known, traditional Cuban song that’s said to be half lament and half love. The popularity of the bolero stretches past Cuba and international singers are attracted to perform their Latin American songs in Havana.
The event concentrates on the history of Cuba and Latin America, along with its dance and culture.
Fiesta del Fuego
The largest and probably the best completely street party in Cuba happens in Santiago de Cuba and is an annual event known as Fiesta del Fuego. The festival sees the streets turned into a riot of colour and a parade of music, celebrations and dancing and drinking. Hoards of street vendors sell Cuba’s national drinks and rum fuelled holidaymakers hit the streets to see live bands and musicians with international and local DJs keeping the Cuban crowds at fever pitch.
The celebrations take part through the entire city and singing and dancing continues through to the early hours. Both festivals are organised by the Cuban tourist board.
Cuba, which is situated at the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico, is the largest island in the West Indies. It consists of many smaller islands, islets and cays. Havana, the capital of Cuba, is famous for its rocking nightlife, culture and outstanding architecture. Since it is very close to Florida, it’s a very popular destination for those looking for weekend breaks.
The best way to travel is by using the taxi. Traveling by the local bus called Camello should be avoided as tourists are often pick pocketed. Another option would be to rent a car and explore on your own.
