Holidays to New York – History

Will famously be remembered for the September 2001 attacks on the twin towers and words such a ground zero, twin towers and freedom tower. Catch the ferry from Whitehall Street for fantastic views of the lady Liberty and the New York skyline. Whilst visiting the Lady Liberty, stop off at Ellis Island to find the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, a place where approximately 12 million people entered New York to fulfill their dreams. A crossing of the Brooklyn Bridge is a must for one of your many photo opportunities.

New York Central Park

In the heart of the city, Central Park is a huge place to explore. Here you can leave the crowds and cars and forget city life within a city. People love to run and take lunch. Why not just visit for a stroll around and you will be amazed at the size of the park. The site of many a movie, with Looming skyscrapers remind you of New York for years to come

New York is a shopper’s paradise. Prices do vary due to the strength of the UK pound; however, they will usually be lower than the UK. Ensure that your credit card is topped up as it will take a battering. A point to remember before departing is to inform your credit card company of your trip. Must visits are stores such as Macys, or window shopping at Tiffanys.

Attractions

New York has a huge number of attractions to meet all tastes. Visit the famous Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium. Ensure you have ample time to visit the various museums. American Museum of Natural History is one famous Museum and worth a visit.

The Statue of Liberty

Possibly America's most famous landmark, the Statue of Liberty guards New York Harbour. This imposing icon acts as a reminder of freedom for the American people and was the first sight of America for millions of early immigrants bound for a new life in the West. A boat ride transports visitors to the statue where you can go to the top for stunning views of the city.

Coney Island

Coney Island, its funfair and beach is a destination for locals without the glamour of glamour of the American theme parks. It has a distinct charm and history. Its like stepping back in time with traditional rollercoaster and circus shows.

Broadway show.

Dress up and go for a Broadway show for a real night out! A visit to New York is not complete with a Broadway show. This is where musicals and plays make or break!
