Los Angeles, America’s second largest city and the biggest in California, was founded in 1821, and was once a part of Mexico. Travel in Los Angeles

Many visitors to LA say that the best way to travel around is by car so hiring a car is possibly the best option on your Los Angeles holidays. This is because the public transport system can be extremely time consuming. The upside to the transport system though is that it is very cheap and you can get all around LA on the Metro system for just $5. The Holly Trolley is also a handy little service for getting up and down Hollywood Boulevard.

To get from LAX to Hollywood, your best bet is to get the Union Station FlyAway bus to Union Station and then get the Metro to Hollywood from there.

 

What not to miss in Los Angeles

1.A trip down Venice Beach is an absolute must during Los Angeles holidays. It’s the atmosphere on the seafront which attracts all the visitors. It’s a busy and bustling stretch with people rollerblading along and crazy street performers keeping you entertained.

 

2. Visitors to LA also love going to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. This is located on Hollywood Boulevard along the Hollywood walk of fame. Plenty of premiers are held here and the Academy Awards have also been held in this theatre. See the foot and hand prints of famous celebrities set in concrete outside the theatre.

 

3. Of course, you have to make time to see the Capitol Records Building. This famous landmark is 13 storeys high and was the world’s first circular office building.

 

4. Try and see a music performance at the Hollywood Bowl as part of your Los Angeles holidays. This amphitheatre has seen plenty of world class acts taking to the stage and it has a backdrop of the Hollywood Hills, complete with the Hollywood sign.

 

5. In Long Beach, there is one sight which will really catch your eye and that is the RMS Queen Mary. The ship is actually now a hotel and boasts restaurants, bars and plenty of events. The ship used to be a luxury liner and was used in WWII as military transport.

 

6. The Griffith Observatory is a popular tourist attraction. Inside, tourists can enjoy a huge range of space and science related displays as well as excellent views of the Los Angeles basin.
