Holidays to Seychelles

Experience the world's best beaches - Seychelles

Bright white sands and turquoise blue waters are normally reserved for our dreams and for heavily airbrushed holiday brochures. But in the Seychelles, no airbrushing is required because here the beaches really are as beautiful as you could imagine.

While on your holidays in Seychelles you could, quite easily, point your camera anywhere and shoot and the resulting picture would be worthy of a picture postcard. And that is because in the Seychelles, beauty is all around.

The Seychelles is an island nation located 1000 miles east of Kenya and just northeast of Madagascar. There are around 155 islands making up the Seychelles and the islands are a favourite with honeymooners and tourists looking for the ultimate escape.

People who choose to go on holidays to Seychelles know that it is quite possible to simply spend the entire trip relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery; the clear waters, palm trees and greenery can really help you to escape the real life. But a lot of visitors to the islands choose to indulge in some activities while they are there too. The islands are great for bird watching, diving, fishing and surfing so if you are looking for a bit more action on your Seychelles holidays, then there’s plenty to choose from.

Hints and tips for your Seychelles holiday

Seychelles attractions

The most obvious reason to book holidays to Seychelles is for the beach life. Tourists never seem to tire of the pristine white sand and the patchy turquoise water. It’s regularly described as heaven on earth and it’s easy to see why as soon as your plane begins to descend on the islands.

What makes these beaches different from beaches in other parts of the world is how peaceful they are. In the Seychelles, you will never be struggling to find somewhere to bathe in the sun. In fact, they are always fairly deserted meaning you can enjoy their beauty as though you are on your own private island.

What makes the beaches even more inviting is the excellent opportunities they offer. The Seychelles is known for being an ideal snorkelling and diving destination. The marine life to explore is truly breathtaking and there are even plenty of colourful and exotic fish close to the shores. Further out, plankton-eating whale sharks make an appearance and the impressive rubber lipped sweetlips can be spotted while diving in the Seychelles too.

When on your Seychelles holidays, you have the chance to experience several holidays all rolled into one. With so many islands to explore, there is plenty of opportunity for a bit of island hopping. Each island has its own unique character and something a little different to offer in terms of culture, history and activities. There is chance to travel by air or sea from Mahé between the islands or if you’re feeling particularly special, private helicopter may be more appropriate.

Visitors also like to get their hiking boots on when they visit the Seychelles. There are hundreds of walks and trails to explore dotted around all the islands and many offer some spectacular views over the mountains and the sea.

Eating in Seychelles

For any fish and seafood fans, the Seychelles is a treat. Here, the locals pride themselves on using local fresh produce and the local markets are always swarming with people looking for the catch of the day.

Drive along any road in the Seychelles and it won’t be long before you come across a group of people wandering back from the markets carrying several fish home for their dinner that night.

The people of the Seychelles eat creole food and it has proved popular with visitors from around the world. The great thing about the Seychelles is that you can very often book a dining table on the beach. So you can enjoy your creole food as you dig your toes into the sand and the waves lap against your feet.

Transport in Seychelles

Getting around on your holidays in Seychelles is easy. Domestic flights and ferries can transport you between islands with no hassle at all and if you want to take a trip into the mountains then there are plenty of car hire companies to help you out.

Things not to miss

Anse Lazio is reportedly the best beach on Praslin and some would argue, the best on all the islands. The sand is soft and white, and the turquoise sea is really beautiful. The water is shallow and warm and perfect for snorkelling.

Venture into one of the smallest capital cities in the world. Victoria is a modern town with a bustling market to explore.

Vallée de Mai is a mystical place where you can see coco de mer palm growing. The significance of this is that this is one of only two places in the world where you can see these palms growing naturally.

Seychelles holidays are holidays that you will never forget. A trip here is no ordinary holiday; it’s a once in a lifetime experience. The beaches are like no others in the world and some of the views you will experience while on your holidays in Seychelles with really take your breath away.

The destination is ideal for honeymooners or anyone who is in need of true relaxation and escape from the real world. Soon, those images of the perfect beach will not just be on a postcard; they will be there; right in front of your eyes.

Weather in Seychelles

Temperatures in the Seychelles rarely drop below 24 degrees and they generally stick around 26 or 27 degrees all year round. The islands never really experience any extremes but rain is more likely during the months of January and February. It’s a tropical climate which suits sun worshipers and beach lovers all year round.
